What This Morning’s All About

POETRY Yvonne Jackson—Vonny—is 35 years old and resides in the United Kingdom. She has a real passion for writing and reading, as well as being a serious photographer on the side. ’What This Morning’s All About’ was her inspiration—this morning just a few days ago.

Vonny passed on her inspired words the very same day, and I asked her if I could publish her words on my site. Luckily, she said yes, so that you, too, may enjoy.

I got to know Vonny two years ago upon visiting my inspiration and mentor, pastor Les Ball, in England. Yvonne is attending his church.

This is the first, but hopefully not the last, contribution to PREACHER.no by Yvonne Jackson.

What This Morning’s All About

It’s not about performing like you’rr on centre stage,
Or acting like a martyr who should be getting a wage,
It’s not about appearing better than the rest,
acting like a microphone in hand makes you the best.
How beautiful you sound and how lovely you look,
how pristine your clothes, they can see the time it took.
And when the music starts it’s not about perfection,
Worships not a mirror to see your own reflection.

No

It’s about The One who made you and stands solid by your side,
It’s about The Creator of all things—The One from whom you cannot hide.
It’s about being humble and giving up yourself,
It’s about what’s in your heart for in your heart lies true wealth.
It’s about bringing me honour and falling to your knees,
It’s about knowing that without Me you couldn’t even breath.
It’s about giving it up and not caring what others see,
When lost in worship you may appear the fool when in fact you’re praising Me.

So let Me tell you now what this morning’s all about,
Let Me make this clear so your head’s not filled with doubt.
All that I require and all that I want to hear,
Is your heart singing to Me and asking to pull near.
And when your heart is asking I’m already on the move,
And as a congregation your worship I’ll approve.
Like rain I’ll pour My Spirit down and as pure as a baby’s smile,
I will wrap My arms around My Church and hold you all the while.

Worship’s not about you, it’s not about what people see,
Because worship, when you strip it down, is about bringing glory to Me.
